[Tien-Shin Yu] mRNA visualization in living plant cells
POST:mRNAs, the templates in protein translation, are not just randomly floating in the cytosol, but rather, they are delivered to specific subcellular compartments for localized protein translation. This mRNA logistics is an efficient approach to distribute proteins in response to environmental cues. However, direct observing of mRNA in living plant cells by microscopy is challenge. A recent publication from Dr. Tien-Shin Yu’s lab improved the method of mRNA visualization. They developed a background-free RNA live-cell imaging system by using the split-fluorescent protein-based approach. This method broadens the application of RNA imaging system in plants (Huang et al., Plant Methods, 2022).
