Open Announcement of New Scanning Electron Microscope (Zeiss GeminiSEM 360)

The high-resolution scanning electron microscope (SEM) in the Electron Microscopy Division of the Cell Biology Core at IPMB, partial funded by AS, was completed in early 2026 and has been undergoing functional testing, instrument training, and trial use. In addition to its high-resolution capabilities, this new field emission scanning electron microscope is equipped with a cryo system, an EDS detector, a sensitive BSD detector, and a STEM detector. The sensitive BSD detector can be used for array tomography image acquisition. The laboratory also has a back-end image processing system, including the 3D analysis software Arivis and the 3D reconstruction software Atlas.

The new scanning electron microscope (Zeiss GeminiSEM 360) was opened for use by all staff members of AS in May. The tentative fees are: NT$500 per hour for general room temperature operation, NT$1500 per hour for cryo operation, and NT$200 per hour for long-term array tomography operation. Colleagues are welcome to utilize this equipment. For instrument reservations, please contact laboratory assistant Ms. Hsiao-Jung Yen.
