[Yuki Nakamura] Mitochondria-localized Arabidopsis SDC1 in phospholipid and amino acid metabolism

A research project led by Dr. Yuki Nakamura revealed a metabolic cross-talk between phospholipids and amino acids in Arabidopsis thaliana by engineering SDC1, an enzyme that catalyzes the first step of the biosynthesis of major phospholipid classes phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine. Localization of SDC1 in mitochondria suggests an involvement of mitochondria in the phospholipid biosynthesis in plants.
