[2024/10/02] Visit to AIST (Tsukuba, Japan)
Chih-Horng Kuo (郭志鴻) and Shen-Chian Pei (裴慎謙) visited Takema Fukatsu (深津武馬) at the Bioproduction Research Institute, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) to discuss our collaboration on insect-microbe symbiosis. Special thanks to Shigeyuki Kakizawa (柿澤茂行) for coordinating the visit.

Chih-Horng Kuo (郭志鴻) and Shen-Chian Pei (裴慎謙) visited the Laboratory of Plant Pathology at the University of Tokyo. We thank Shigetou Namba (難波成任) and Kensaku Maejima (前島健作) for the hospitality.
[2024/09/27-29] Wakate Colosseum for Bacteriology (Osaka, Japan)
Chih-Horng Kuo (郭志鴻) and Shen-Chian Pei (裴慎謙) attended the 18th Wakate Colosseum for Bacteriology, a special conference for junior microbiologists sponsored by the Japanese Society for Bacteriology, and had a fruitful discussion with Makoto Miyata (宮田真人) and Yoshihito Kitaoku (北奥喜仁) on deep-branching Mollicutes and other related lineages.
[2024/09/25-10/15] Visit to Osaka Metropolitan University (Osaka, Japan)
Sponsored by the "Frontiers in Science" Program of Osaka Metropolitan University, Chih-Horng Kuo (郭志鴻) and Shen-Chian Pei (裴慎謙) had a short-term visit to Japan. Special thanks to Makoto Miyata (宮田真人; Department of Biology) for hosting, Kae Nakahara (中原香恵; International Support Center) and Sachiko Asagai (浅貝佐智子; Miyata lab) for arranging the visit, and the Miyata lab members for their hospitality.

We attended the 28th Bacteriology Conference in Tainan, Taiwan. Yu Wu (吳宇), Shen-Chian Pei (裴慎謙), and Hsi-Ching Yen (顏席清) presented their research projects.
[2024/08/09-18] IPMB Virtual Race
For our institutional summer sports event this year, we have a virtual race during Aug. 9-18. Together, the 12 members of our lab member contributed 531 km to the Team Microbes!
[2024/07/07-11] IOM Congress (Gran Canaria, Spain)
We attended the 25th Congress of the International Organization for Mycoplasmology (IOM) in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. Congratulations to Shen-Chian Pei (裴慎謙) and Xiao-Hua Yan (顏小華) on receiving the IOM travel grants to attend this conference and having successful poster presentations. Chih-Horng Kuo (郭志鴻) gave an oral presentation on genome-based taxonomy of Mollicutes. The gala dinner at the Poema del Mar Aquarium was amazing. Other than the exciting science, it was lovely to see many friends and collaborators again!

[2022/12/05-07] Australasian Plant Virology Workshop (Melbourne, Australia)
The lab PI Chih-Horng Kuo (郭志鴻) attended this conference as an Invited Keynote Speaker to present our work on phytoplasma genomics. Chih-Horng also discussed potential collaborations with Dr. Fiona Constable (Research Leader) and Bianca Rodrigues Jardim (PhD student) from Agriculture Victoria, as well as met with several graduate students from Taiwan.

Extremely grateful for the phenomenal disease control in Taiwan that we can still have physical conferences amid the global coronavirus pandemic. Our entire lab went to Kaohsiung to attend this annual event that aims to promote microbiology research among young scientists. Really enjoy the cool science, the warm friendship, and the beautiful sunny beach.
