[Ming-Hsiun Hsieh] High vitamin B1 rice

The pGT1:ThiL transgenic rice has increased vitamin B1 in the seed compared with the wild type (WT). The color gradient in the schematic diagram depicts the relative vitamin B1 content in the seed.
Dr. Ming-Hsiun Hsieh’s laboratory has created transgenic rice with enhanced vitamin B1 in the seed. The research group introduced a bacterial gene encoding thiamin monophosphate kinase into Arabidopsis and rice, creating an additional route for thiamin diphosphate biosynthesis and increasing total vitamin B1. The paper was recently published in The Plant Journal (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/tpj.16563).
